Alyssa Garza, Company Director
Alyssa has fostered her passion for the performing arts for as long she can remember. Born in San Antonio, she lived in various locations including Mexico and L.A. before finding her way back to her hometown in 2008, where she began her professional acting and dancing career. She helped LA Performing Arts grow for 6 years before taking over the role of owner in 2015. She is passionately driven to providing a safe, warm, and challenging environment where youth and adults can foster their love of dance, acting, and singing.

Nikki Scaglione, Adult & Masters Acting
Nikki was born and raised in San Antonio. Her interest in acting started at the age of 10. She then took many classes in theatre and has performed on various stages throughout San Antonio. She joined LA Performing Arts in 2011 when she wanted to focus on TV & Film Acting. She has continued studying under many notable acting coaches and has experience in front of the camera and behind the scenes. After many years of working with the studio front staff, she is now happily taking on her role as manager. She loves seeing her acting students and all other LA Performing Arts talent grow and succeed with all they learn.
Allie Werthman, Junior Team & Broadway
Allie is originally from Maui, Hawaii. She started dancing at Alexander Ballet Academy at age 5. She has placed in the top ten overall winning soloists at Showstoppers Dance Competition in 2017 and 2018. She has joyfully taken on the role of the dance captain of the LA Performing Arts Sensations Company from 2015-2019. For the past 3 years, Allie has taught many classes with LA Performing Arts including Junior Sensations dance company, combo I-III, jazz I/II, princess ballerina camp, triple threat jr, broadway I-III, and modern.
Charlee Wunderlin, Adult Tap
Originally from St. Louis, she received her early ballet training from The Alexandra School of Ballet. Later she attended Lalla Bauman School of Dance, where she added tap and jazz to her repertoire. She has performed with various community and professional musical theatre companies, including 3 years with The MUNY of St. Louis. She loves being a student and instructor here because she gets to choreograph, perform and spend time with people who love to dance! When she’s not dancing, she likes to travel with her husband and two children.
Charo Assad, Hip Hop I & Combo II & Adult Jazz
Charo was born in Monterrey, Mexico and she started dancing when she was 5 years old. In Mexico, she took several dance classes including ballet, jazz, modern, and flamenco. After graduating from college, she danced salsa, bachata, merengue, tango and belly dance. Charo has taken hip hop, jazz, and contemporary dance workshops from professional choreographers and has also taken several dance lessons at Broadway Dance Center in New York City to update her dance career.
Cheryl Bishop, Adult Jazz
Cheryl began dancing at the age of 6 and studied tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical dance at the Dorothy Keck Dance Studio. During High School she was a member and officer of the Shining Star Pep Squad at John Marshall High School. In 2006 she became the assistant director of the Shining Star Pep Squad and in 2008 she became certified by the Texas Education Agency in Fine Arts Dance. Cheryl is grateful to teach at a studio with an adult dance program. In her free time, Cheryl likes to spend time with her amazing husband and sweet cats.
Chloe Walker, Adult Ballet & Ballet I-V
Chloe is from San Marcos, where she began dancing at the age of four. She later joined Ballet Chicago’s Pre-Professional program where she trained in the Balanchine technique under the direction of Daniel Duell. She now holds a bachelor’s in art history and museum studies from UTSA and has been teaching for 5 years. She has performed with many studios in the San Antonio area and is now an Apprentice and Rehearsal Assistant with Ballet San Antonio. She loves to teach and educate using her rounded background as well as encourage the influence of dance on the lives of her students and peers.
Grantham Woods, Vocals
Grantham is a graduate from Texas State University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. Since graduating, Grantham has traveled around the country showcasing his talents in countless shows, movies and performances. Grantham discovered his drive to enhance young singers with their desire to sing/perform when he was asked to clinician and assist soloists for various choirs & competitions in the South. Being trained by some of the best voices in the country himself, Grantham's approach is health-conscience and effective. “Singing is a lot of work, but it will also become the easiest and most fulfilling thing you will do.”
Kelly Cardenas, Contemporary, Ballet & Jazz Technique
Kelly is from Fort Wayne, Indiana and has been dancing since the age of 5. She graduated from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne majoring in organizational leadership and minored in dance. She has taught at various studios in and around Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. She has choreographed for numerous stage productions and very much enjoys the creative process with students. She is very excited to work with the students and staff at LA Performing Arts!!
Laura Stiles, Vocals, Tap & Broadway IV
Laura is a native of San Antonio and has been singing since she was 3 and performing since she was 8. Laura attended the Northeast School of The Arts at L.E.E. High School. She then graduated and attended UT Austin as a Music Education Major. Laura was a live performer, show captain and show swing at Six Flags for 7 years, and has also been in numerous productions in public theaters around San Antonio. Laura has been teaching voice since '98 and has been teaching with LA Performing Arts since '08. Laura is happily married and has 2 young children who love everything to do with music!
Lori Michelle, Combo III, Broadway II/III, Jazz I-III, Lyrical & Tap I/II
Lori started dancing at age 3 and has had over 16 years of dance training. She was a member of the LA Dance Connection’s company and has taught dance for 30 years, in both California and Texas. Lori has choreographed many overall award winning routines including 12th Street Rag, which was the 1st overall group at Starbound Nationals. In 2001, she earned the Nationally Recognized Teacher plaque from Showstoppers. Lori is an accredited member of the Texas Association Teachers of Dancing and has her certification in both Tap and Jazz.
Monica Clegg, TV/Film I-IV
Monica was born in Germany, but she claims Texas as her home! Her interest in acting began in school. She then started acting professionally about 12 years ago. She has performed with Storybook theatre, shot some local films and commercials. In addition to teaching at LA Performing Arts, Monica teaches at a small private school where she teaches Middle School English, High School Journalism, Dance team, and Drama.
Sherry Watkins, Hip Hop I-Adult
Sherry is our hip hop instructor extraordinaire! She has been with us for many years teaching kids to adults!
Tori Stevens, Broadway I-II & Lyrical
Victoria has been dancing since the age of 4. In '09 she began taking theatre classes at Northside Performing Arts under the direction of Mary Claire Becan. In 2015, Victoria made her new home at L.A. Performing Arts. She loves singing and has performed in the Cornerstone Youth Choir. Her skills include: ballet, tap, clogging, jazz, contemporary and lyrical as well as theatre training both as an actor and behind the scenes. She has performed at Six Flags, Magik Theatre, Morgan’s Wonderland and The Theatre for Young Audiences. Victoria feels blessed to share her passion for dance and theatre arts in her role as a teacher in the positive and encouraging atmosphere of LA Performing Arts.
